Althea Update: Cardinal
The upcoming Althea L1 Cardinal Update is a minor feature upgrade for the Althea L1 blockchain with improvements for the dex and machine to machine payment flow.
Auto Swapping and Stablecoin Fees: DeFi for Machines
This new feature provides a stablecoin fee only path for unwrapping tokens from the EVM. Tokens bridged into Althea L1 are automatically wrapped into the EVM for DeFi ease of use. For embedded devices with wallets using the Althea L1 that swap on the micro-payments layer, this upgrade allows those routers to pay USDC/stablecoins in fees directly. This increases reliability and reduces response time, making it seamless and practical for Machine-to-Machine devices to move funds into and out of the micro-transaction layer more frequently.
One of the biggest lessons we've learned designing M2M payment systems is that workflow complexity spirals fast. We designed universal permit tx support to allow M2M devices to make swaps without having to manage an ALTHEA balance themselves. Instead paying their fees in stablecoins to a relayer who pays fees in ALTHEA on their behalf.
But for a very common flow, like adding funds to an on chain router the complexity should be absolutely minimized for high reliability.
Governance for the iFi DEX
Initializes the NativeDex module to allow parameter and config changes to be sent to the iFi DEX via easy-to-use governance proposals. This means anyone can submit an easy to understand proposal to increase or decrease fees or change any other parameter in the iFi DEX.
These updates support the routers and machines that use the micro-transaction platform and the usability of iFi DEX with Liquid Infrastructure.
